One of the reasons I enjoy exploring the microscopic world is that the pixilated renditions we typically see are man made- either colored by stains, or by computer.
I love that sense of freedom, and use it as an excuse to run riot with all kinds of color combinations in unexpected places.

Here is a nautilus shell with just a bit of added color for impact.
